Uses

ASFABIT RB is used:

To provide a sandwich membrane between screed flooring

A waterproofing coat for concrete foundations, bricks, retaining walls, etc.

It can be used as a waterproofing for walls and floors including wet areas

For maintenance of many types of roofs including built up felt, Aluminum, concrete, lightweight screed, timber, slate, asbestos, bitumen sheets, etc.

As a vapor/ salt barrier for exterior walls to building facades behind granite, marble, stone, cladding, curtain walls, etc.

Can be used as adhesive for insulation boards and expanded polystyrene

Product Description

ASFABIT RB is a cold applied rubberized bitumen emulsion in dark brown color that, when dries, it forms tough black seamless and flexible coating.

Shelf Life & Storage

Storage:

ASFABIT RB should be stored under cover away from extreme heat, direct sunlight or frost.

Shelf life:

12 months in stored tightly sealed containers under good storage conditions.

Application Information

Instructions for use

Surface Preparation

The surface of the concrete shall be sound, clean and uncontaminated.

This preparation shall be such as to leave a sound exposed concrete surface free from dust, loose particles and any deleterious matter. If the concrete surface is defective or has laitance, it must be cut back to a sound base.

Moss and lichen must be removed physically followed by treatment with fungicidal wash. After treatment, it must be washed down thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry.

Priming

Hot, very dry or porous surfaces should be primed before applying ASFABIT RB.

Mixing

ASFABIT RB should be stirred before use until a uniform color and consistency is achieved. Product is ready for use.

Application

For waterproofing underground structures, the bituminous emulsion shall be applied by brush or roller depending on the dry film thickness required. 300 micron dry film thickness (DFT) can be achieved when applied at 3m² /Lt/coat. The two coats must be applied at right angles to one another with a minimum of 6hours intervals between each application at 35°C. Ensure that coat is completely dry before the next coat is applied.

Cleaning

Clean the tools immediately after use with clean water. During work, it is recommended to place the tools in water while not in use. Cured material can be removed mechanically.

Recommendation

Do not apply subsequent applications if the membrane is punctured or damaged.

Additional Information

Health & Safety

ASFABIT RB is non-flammable, non-hazardous product. However, proper measures should be taken during work to avoid contact with eyes or skin. In the event of contact with eyes, irrigate immediately with clean water and seek medical care.
